Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Crash that Killed 19-Year-Old Dezurik

A 44-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing a crash that killed 19-year-old Ryan Dezurik.

Prosecutors say Eugene Edward Rivetts was driving a Hummer at a high rate of speed on Aug. 16, 2009. He was on County Road 17 near 105th Avenue on Brockway Township when he hit the 1990 Toyota Corolla driven by Dezurik.

2 Weekend Burglaries Reported While Victims Were Away

St. Cloud Police are looking into two weekend burglaries that happened while the victims were away.

The first burglary was reported around 12:36 p.m. Sunday, May 13, on the 500 block of 11th Street South. The victim said someone entered his bedroom over the weekend through an unlocked window and stole several items.

Springer Named SCSU College of Liberal Arts Dean

St. Cloud State music faculty member Mark Springer has been named the College of Liberal Arts dean.

Springer is a classroom and music studio faculty member and has been at the university for 16 years. He has been the interim dean for more than a year, following the death of Todd DeVriese in December 2010.

Little Falls Woman Sues City Over Political Yard Signs

A Little Falls woman is suing the city after officials ordered her to remove the political signs in her yard.
    
Robin Hensel's lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, says the city violated her constitutional right to free speech last fall by ordering her to remove the signs, which supported the Occupy Wall Street and peace movements.

3,500 Local Hospital Workers Vote to Strike

About 3,500 members of the Service Employees International Union Healthcare Minnesota voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to strike.  After two days of voting, 91 percent supported the strike option.

If the union calls a 2-5 day strike it would affect:

-Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina
-Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis

St. Cloud River Ride Bike Event Includes Parade, 10-Mile Ride

The St. Cloud YMCA is hosting a River Ride Bike Event for the community.

The day includes a 10-mile bike ride, a 3-mile bike parade, music, and family activities. The first 300 people to register will get a free t-shirt.
